South Africa Ain’t Just Jeffreys Bay

Depending on your skillset – and regard for your own livelihood – Hawaii is either going to induce jealousy or nausea. For those, like me, averse to waves that’ll threaten my puny little frame, watching a pumping point break is thoroughly more comforting, and frankly, relatable than watching people jump off 50-foot aquatic cliffs.  

Here, Davey Van Zyl scores at home in what Damien Fahrenfort described as the ‘best waves he’s seen from home in a long time’. 

There’s no high-flying performance antics or mind-boggling turns, just very well surfed, exceptionally pumping waves. 

It’s safe to say we’re jealous Davey, although I don’t know how many of us would’ve committed to, let alone made that last wave.
