Straight outta Cronulla.

Entering Rio, world tour rookie Connor O’Leary is sitting 13 on the leaderboards. A placing helped largely in part by a fifth place finish at the Quiksilver Pro, Gold Coast; the first world tour event Connor ever competed in. Impressive numbers considering it’s Connors first run on the dream tour that are made all the more notable seeing as most people didn’t even know who Connor was two years ago, when he shouldering through the infamous grind that is the QS. An endeavour he supported himself by working odd-end jobs at surf shops and more. But, the Cronulla-based goofy footer saw his lack of media attention as an advantage. A way to quietly ascend the QS rankings and eventually earn a spot on this year’s tour. So with a history of achieving results, Connor is by no means an underdog. Rather, he’s just a guy who enjoys putting up numbers free of outwards pressure and to minimal fanfare.
