Western Australia cleaned up, and cleaned up good. There’s been southerlies belting through for the last few days, as they do in summer, making for a perfect aerial wind on right handers. But yesterday, the wind swung to a light offshore in the morning. “Heads were spinning as to where to go,” says photog Ryan Miller of the excitement that a groomed ocean can bring. “The Box, being most of the boys’ first stop, just wasn’t quite big enough. After that initial check everyone was out hunting. Dusty (Payne, pictured) scored himself this little gem of a barreling wave over sand.” Sometimes, they’re the best kind.
