Italo Ferreira Refurbishes Nose Décor, Monster Snags ‘Repeater’ Standout, And Another Surf Brand Names Themselves After Sodium

More rumblings from the sticker mill.

Though we don’t have any Kelia Moniz-style sponsorship bombshells to drop on you today, we do have a few updates on the world of monetary compensation for waveriding.

Firstly, we spotted a shimmering green Monster sticker on the deck of Al Cleland Jr’s board in this recent clip.

Being an absolute loose unit is a good way to get a claw on your board, and Al Cleland lives his life on the edge of chaos (remember that half-tube to one-footed air in Repeater, followed by a near fin asphyxiation?).

Al x Monster is about as on-brand as it gets, and we can’t wait to see how much more turbo-charged he goes after a few sips of that sweet green taurine.

Next, one of the CT’s classiest acts and recent SEOTY contender Liam O’Brien has stepped away from his longtime sponsor Billabong and (presumably) engulfed the budget Vissla previously had set aside for Josiah Amico.

“I didn’t know Liam surfed waves like that. He’s got great style on tour but I’d never seen that side of him,” Eithan Osborne told us recently, regarding Liam’s self-produced edit ‘Wandering.’

With an enormously lovable persona and his best CT result a 3rd in El Salvador last year, the pickup had to be a no-brainer for Vissla, and will undoubtedly serve both parties well.

If you haven’t watched Harry Bryant’s film Motel Hell yet — you’re about to have your perceptions reconfigurated. In the lactose tolerant film, Dion Agius does one of the most absurd frontside airs you’ll see this year — at 38 years old.

From what we’ve been hearing, Dion has been contracting out for Former as a creative director on a handful of projects. He’s now rocking a spray painted Former logo en route to our latest Monster strike mission.

Should be something exciting coming soon, from the whispers that’ve been floating around.

Ever heard of the brand ‘Salt Life’? Well, they just picked up two of Southern California’s most agreeable underdogs — Nolan Rapoza and Sam Sibley.

“From what I know, Salt Life has been around for awhile,” Nolan’s coach Matt Myers told us. “I have no idea what the numbers are, but Nolan said it’s the biggest contract he’s ever got. I think it’s super smart, this is gonna be the renaissance of seeing who can find different brands to grow with. Plus, Body Glove kept him for wetsuits. He said he’s happy. In this day and age, get your bag if you can.”

Gotta respect the hustle.

Also, Coco Ho has joined Aloha Collection as an ambassador for their House Of Aloha initiative.

From what we know, Aloha Collection is a bag company – Totes, duffels, pouches, etc. Her signing is part of their first global ambassador initiative, and she’s the only surfer that’s part on the program. Essentially, yet another notch in Coco’s entrepreneurial success.

You can read our full Stab Interview with her, regarding her new surfboard label XO, here.

Finally Italo Ferreira posted a recent quiver shot featuring 12 boards, all with RedBull stickers on the nose and a literal photo of himself as the centerpiece.

Though we haven’t heard much on the sponsor front since Italo’s alleged ‘breach of contract’ with Billabong, his caption (translated poorly by Instagram) reads —

“I like stories that get new chapters! The kind that give you wings to dream and conquer all that you want. Mine with @redbullbr got a new version. Now she is at the top of my board and together I know we will have greater flights.

Our story began in 2021 and right away we wore the Olympic Gold Medal on our chest. My happiness is even greater, because Red Bull is a brand that I identify with a lot. We are very much alike in the free way to live life! And just like that, in a few days, we’ll start a new journey in search of the top”

Looks like he’s leveled up his deal with RedBull.

More to come.
