Did You Win Some New Neoprene?
Discover, within.
You’ve seen the iced suits, strung some sentences together describing your most recent wetsuit experience, now it’s time to see if you’ve acquired yourself a two-pack of hi-fi neoprene courtesy of your pals at Stab. The suit stories filtered through from all corners of the cold water surfing community; North Carolina, Ireland, Holland, British Columbia, New Zealand, Oregon and the balmy Sunshine Coast Australia – for trips south of the border of course… After scrolling the 200-plus comment submissions, sifting out the serious entries from the banter, a decision has been made on who is worthy of the medium-sized goods.
Congratulations to you ‘Michael’ from Ventura, now you’ll always have a dry suit to slip into after a breakfast burrito.
“Living in Ventura, CA sure has its advantages with plentiful breaks and dank breakfast burritos never too far away. It goes without saying that a stellar session requires a stellar wetsuit. I don’t have a Slater sized budget so the last wetsuit I bought was a 2014 4/3 Xcel Revolt (medium ;)) to handle the average 55ºF water temp and it has been an awesome upgrade over my old Ripcurl Flashbomb. While many may question my manhood for wearing a 4/3 in these temps, this wetsuit has kept me toasty warm in the early morning hours with the slight breeze blowing over my shoulders as me and the other 200 people out at Ventura Point wait for the next set to roll in. The Xcel has held up way better through the countless sessions over the past two years compared to the Flashbomb. In addition, at 2 years old the seams hardly let any water in and the neck area still doesn’t really flush. The lining of the suit dries quickly and the neoprene is still holding up extremely well. Paddling with this suit has never given me any issues, I feel nearly as flexible in it as JJF does going bareback at Pipeline. The only thing I don’t like about the suit is that for a medium, the arms seem a little short with the sleeves stopping about where you should wearing a watch.”
