An Injured John John Florence films his Ma, Hawaii

Now, ain’t this something. John John Florence is currently rehabbing his ankle after injuring it in an expression session at the Quiksilver Pro, Gold Coast. Immediately after injury, he flew from Brisbane to LAX to visit doctor Warren Kramer, who’d told him that if it ain’t black or blue, he shouldn’t even think about surgery. He’s since been hobbling around the North Shore in an ankle brace, doing his rehab, waiting, waiting. But he’s still having a little fun… “There was a nice little sandbar this morning and John John was out swimming with his ankle brace on, getting clips with his GoPro of Mom and his friends” says photog Spencer Suitt, who positioned himself a little further down the line to frame shooter and surfer. And, how about Alex Florence? Gal can sure style-out on a longboard, as Stab couldn’t help but notice during some freesurfs on the Gold Coast. She’s raised three sons who have grit in the thicker juice and are some of the best barrel riders in Hawaii (already! even though John, oldest, is only 19!) and now she gets to surf with them all and even log a coupla clips.
