Breaking: South Korea Reveals The Largest Functional Wavegarden Pool Yet
How will Kim Jong Un feel?
You never want to hear about a wavepool leak, but this one’s not so bad.
Just recently, it’s been revealed that South Korea’s Siheung Surf Park has completed its long-awaited Wavegarden pool and is running waves.
One might assume that if they’ve seen one Wavegarden pool, they’ve seen them all. This could not be further from the truth. Because Wavegarden’s Cove technology is designed using a sequence of wave-producing modules, the size of each pool can actually be quite different.
This one, for instance, is Wavegarden’s largest functional pool to date, using 56 wave-producing modules. For comparison, the Melbourne pool (URBNsurf) uses 46, and Bristol’s “The Wave” has just 40. (Info courtesy of Wavepool Mag)
Korea’s Siheung Surf Park is part of a larger development called Turtle Island, which is being built for over half-a-billion Euros. The joint’s situated an hour south of Seoul and hopes to bring in two million tourists per year once it’s fully developed.
All of which raises the question: how will North Korean leader Kim Jong Un feel about his mortal enemy’s recent display of power? And assuming he’s downright agitated, how will Kim fight back?
A mile-long Slater pool? Four Wacos stacked together? Or will he just nuke the Sea of Japan and send a rogue 40-foot wave in every which direction?
