The Quiksilver Pro Prepares For Kirra

If conditions at Snapper deteriorate the WSL will run the Quiksilver Pro at Kirra tomorrow.

A transfer to Kirra seemed logistically impossible and arguably unnecessary as Snapper continues to improve on the out running tide, but as you read this tents are been uprooted and reset on the point at Kirra.

The last time the Quik Pro ran at Kirra was 2013, which provided one of the most memorable and entertaining Quiksilver Pros in memory.

Although the judges tower, competitors area and overall location is less than ideal – particularly due to a mere 18 hour turn around – this will be outweighed by the tube-fest Kirra frequently provides.

Snapper may be pulsing right now, but as this ex-tropical cyclone swell increases in size, Snapper’s quality will likely decrease. As previously mentioned, the forecasted swell direction is less than ideal and there are questions as to the size of the swell – it may be oversized for Snapper.

We spotted Keiren Perrow assessing the Kirra set-up early this afternoon and asked about the Kirra transfer. “Maybe, we’ll take a look in the morning” was Keiren’s response.

The decision to transfer to Kirra may not be definitive at this stage, but if we awake to pumping Kirra tomorrow morning and lacklustre Snapper then the WSL will be prepared for a contest transfer.

The only people complaining right now are the security guards who lost their tent and the WSL workers responsible for what will be a gruelling overnight relocation.
