Stab Recommends: 5 Sensible Things To Enhance Your Existence
Modern life is (not) rubbish.
‘Growing up’ gets mentioned a lot when you’re doing just that.
It’s generally something you ‘need to’ do, but when you hit your 20s you find that there’s no set speed to approaching adulthood. On a recent LA jaunt for a friend’s 29th birthday (who may or may not work for this website) I was struck by, after a two-year hiatus, how things had changed.
When did we learn the art of partying all weekend without overindulging in any of the fun things? Start drinking hydralight before hitting the sack? Have fresh towels for guests? We spent most of the weekend self-congratulating ourselves on how mature we’d become, and, after surviving the festivities, got carried away on Monday night which resulted in me coming within a whisker of missing my seven am flight the next morning, and his GF’s Prius getting towed.
In light of growing up, but not too fast, here’s five more than useful objects that you’ll buy and hopefully not knock out the window whilst blowing smoke out of your top floor apartment (RIP UE Boom).
Remarkable Engineering
Seriously, how incredible are these things? If you’re travelling, have a small apartment, or are hosting a party of less than 12 people then UE Boom’ll have you jiving until you keel over.
Checkered Slips
We received a purple batch of these recently and they’ve grown on us like a Tame Impala record. For the less adventurous the black and white/black and black versions are perfect for summer, the plane, or slipping on when you stop for petrol.
Modern Convenience
Up, down, sideways, which way y’wanna go? If you’re in LA then any of these effects can be achieved with a phone call and less than a 25-minute wait. And, chances are they’ll arrive in a Prius.
Eco(ish) friendly and $24 gees brand spanking.
Culture Shifting Specs
Epokhe get a lotta love on this here web portal, and with good reason. They always keep us rich in frames, and their silhouettes are the most handsome in surf. Here’s the shape that began it all, designed by the most gorgeous man to ever ride a skateboard.
Onderkoelen Dutch Brand
We don’t know much about this cute Dutch brand other than they like to surf too, make hip, street-inspired surf garments and are based in Amsterdam, one of the most heroically liberal cities around. Stay tuned to Stabmag.com for an interview with the founder.
