Photolyfe: Tanner Olthoff
Through a Californian lens.
Welcome back to PhotoLyfe, in which Stab’s favourite photographers answer questions about themselves with their own images. It’s that old picture-tells-a-thousand-words chestnut but with more colour and pop. It’s a way to cut out all the bullshit. It’s like jacking into the main vein of those who supply us with exquisite surf imagery every day. Give thanks by studying each image with a more careful eye than ever!
Please outstretch your hand for a digital introduction with 21 year-old Tanner Olthoff. Tanner hails from Oceanside, smack bang in the goldilocks zone for surfing and photography in Southern California. His aesthetic is softer, warmer, with a tasteful grain and generous contrast. Swiping your way down his Instagram you’ll be greeted with a collage of various subjects. There’s logging, sunsets, uninhabited tubes, high performance attacks (Gabs, John, Kolohe and more), lifestyle and travel imagery that’ll get your feet itchy. Slide down to deepen the acquaintance, or go one step further and throw him a follow.
