Chris Gurney first picked up a camera in Perth at age 15, but it wasn’t til 18 that he really started getting serious. “I didn’t start for any particular reason, I just liked watching waves and picking up a camera felt natural,” he says. “I like swimming the most out of any way of shooting, being in the action and working to get the shot.” Now, at 23, he’s one of Australia’s best and really shines when pointing into a big slab.
