Ain’t a whole lot of fun out there in the retail sphere right now. But, them’s the breaks and not all’s lost. Sometimes it takes a pinch to get a reaction, and that reaction has never looked better.
Meet Pared sunglasses, a brand Stab’s kinda, very excited about. Eyewear handcrafted by Samantha Stevenson, who designed Ksubi shades for five years? Yes, thanks. Anything built on a everything-works-better-in-twos philosophy is fine by us (Like, old and new, masculine and feminine, classic and modern.)
So, what are Sam’s goals with her boutique unisex collection? Basically, to explore a new direction, to put her experience into something unique, to source the highest quality acetates, and to focus on handmade and custom products.
But, back to that double-up philosophy. The name holds double meaning, since Pared denotes something refined, shaven back or sculpted. Which is a technique visible through the range, with acetates layered over each other and shaved back. The product’s also named after famous duos: Salt & Pepper, Puss & Boots, Dollars & Cents.
So, Now & Then, the SS12/13 collection (see above), is built with a long lifespan in mind. Handmade with acetates sourced direct from Japan, held together by German rubber dipped screws and a hinge that’s hand moulded to the the acetate, with CR39 lenses that’re scratch and shatter proof. See also: These aren’t breaking. So, uh, what else you wanna know? How about where to get em. Which would be here.
