Meet Volcom’s True-Blue Aussie Collection By Illustrator, Jamie Browne
Eighties Holdens, schooners, pubs and a roady with Ozzie Wright.
Apologies if you’ve stumbled in hunting Oscar Wright surf action visuals.
There’s no waves being ridden here, but that doesn’t mean you won’t dig what artist, Jamie Browne has just created with Volcom.
The wares are an ode to Aussie culture; its roadside monuments, bars, pubs and crisp glasses of ice cold refreshments. Everything that’s good about a roady, without the surfing part.
To accompany the release, and bolster the context, the Stone threw Jamie and Ozz into an old 80’s Holden Commodore, the kind that some folk still use to irresponsibly dispose of tire tread, and sent them on their way down the Pacific Highway.
They weren’t chasing clips nor were they signing grom’s t-shirts in small town surf stores. Nope. All they had was Ozzie’s bite-sized ukulele, a couple skateboards and a box of the threads Jamie created for the exclusive range.
For those unacquainted, Jamie Browne made a name for himself in the graphics world, with his witty puns and illustrations, tying humour in with culture. Unconfirmed reports also tell us that Jamie is a straight up bloke to aspire to, from his humble persona, to his taste in art and music.
Judging by the clip and images they shot on the road, we can dig what Jamie’s about, and anyone who’s a friend of Ozzie Wright’s is a friend of ours.
We’re backing the range, the colours, the crafty graphics and the ‘Straya spirit. Continue sliding down for a peep.
