Like Wearing Less Than Nothing

Salty Crew’s best boardshorts of 2023 are both low-key and high-fi.

As a man who doesn’t spend his days fishing on the open ocean or in the inlets, Salty Crew isn’t my usual go-to for boardies.

Product: Salty Crew Pinnacle+ Long Range Black 19″ Boardshort

Price: $75

But after wearing Pinnacle+ Long Range Black Boardshort for a few sessions, I may just take up the rod and reel in the near future. In all seriousness, these ultra-lightweight, performance-forward trunks are perfect for maneuvering through the water – be it with a surfboard, speargun, or cold beverage in hand.

Fitted yet weightless, the 19″ straight-leg style feels like a giant step towards a true performance-focused boardie from the folks at Salty Crew. It actually feels like wearing less than nothing if you’re into that sort of thing.

X-Factors:

  • Fast-Drying: Premium engineered recycled fabrication for eco-friendly, crazy-fast dry times
  • Feather-light: Durable lightweight fabric for increased mobility + comfort
  • Performance fit: Angled sideseam and contoured waistband create a comfortable, ergonomic fit
  • Side Pocket and Key Loop: A must-have detail for storing essentials during your session
  • No-Fuss Tie Fly Closure (get out of here, velcro)

A blacked-out colorway with a subtle touch of gray camo pizzazz around the waistband gives these an all-around clean look. Paired with performance-driven details (See four-way stretch, quick-dry fabric, and angled side seams), SC has designed an option that I would A) wear and B) trust for my longest days in and on the water.

Verdict: A great low-profile, ergonomic fit for long days of tube- or fish-wrangling.

Note: Garrett is 6’0, 170 lb., wearing size 32.
