Here’s to a more comfortable autumn, with Volcom!
Autumn is plucking its shrill strings in Australia. The coming months are arguably the best time of year for surf on the entire continent. Third only to good foam and rubber in this time, is good outerwear to facilitate surf checks and general well being against the cold. Volcom has some of the best right now in a recently re-stocked portal. Below are some of Stab‘s favourite pieces… And, because they love the fam, Volcom are offering all Stab readers 30% off in the Volcom Oz online store. When you get to checkout, enter the code below in the ‘Promo Code’ field and click ‘Update’ to apply discount. Code: STAB30 You’ve got til midnight on Monday, Oz time. Go get at it. Forwarder Jacket $79.99 I bought a Ralph Lauren jacket in Paris that looked a lot like this but actually turned out to be nowhere near as comfortable as the Volcom piece you see above. Not only is the mesh inner just everything, but the slick navy blue with toothpaste white closure and drawcord will make your autumn fizz like a San Pellegrino. This is a great piece to throw over the top of your wetsuit if it’s firing and you just wanna snack on something in the carpark real quick. Shop here. Treehouse LS You could jack the shit out of some lumber in this, amirite? If you can’t tell, this is 100 percent cotton flannel, which in layman’s terms means you can use this for three purposes: One is under a jacket if it’s absolutely freezing. Two is over a teo if you’re just trying to beat a subtle but creeping chill. And three is to use as a replacement for roof racks, such is the toughness of the Treehouse. Shop here. 2X4 Denim Do you really need to be told what denim’s good for? I’ll do it anyways: It’s good for everything. Dancing, Driving, Travelling, Dawn-Patrolling, Day-tripping, the whole party. Like any good pair of jeans in 2015 there’s a two-percent presence of stretch, so you won’t be struggling with stiff legs while transitioning from damp wetsuit to warm happiness in the carpark after sunset. Shop here. Lakewood Sweater There’s fleece under there, would you believe? This has gotta be the most chill fleece ever. They usually look like they’re straight out of a camping store and while the Lakewood wouldn’t appear lost around a campfire, it’s subtle enough to hold metropolitan sway, too. Also included: Gum detailing and an overall touch of class. Shop here. 56th Panel Hat Rather than go out and waste cash last friday night, I opted to stay indoors. Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now was on – the Redux version, which runs around three and a half hours – and I watched that sonofabitch from start to finish. It was a psychedelic war! Days later, I came across Hearts of Darkness, a documentary about the making of AN. About three quarters of the way through, Frankie Coppola appeared on screen, dripping in the Filipino humidity, wearing all white except for… a hat exactly like this one. Shop here. Modstone Jacket Speaking of a psychedelic war, this military kink never gets old. This is a little bit bomber, a little bit something else. But, it’s the absolute perfect top layer. You got any idea how good a grey hoodie would looking poking out of the neck here? The colour is perfectly autumnal – bang in between the fades of summer and the richness of winter. Shop here. Washed Pulli P/O Would you have a look at that neck detail? This whole vibe is like the shit the rebels wear to Endor, and 80s sci-fi camouflage is an aesthetic I can get down with. Plus if you put the hood up there’s not a chance in hell that stiff offshore is getting anywhere near your head. Eskimo feels while staring out through a tiny little peephole at the sand-bottom right you just shivered down 500m worth of bush track to find. Shop here. Static Mod Boardshorts Now, here’s a wildcard. Maybe you’re lucky enough to live in a place where you can wear trunks during autumn. If not, then chances are you’re starting to look at an Indo run. You’re gonna need some trunks. Some really good trunks, maybe a light red shading, sitting just above the knee, with some stretch in them? Sounds parfait, but where on earth might you find such a thing… Shop here.
