Filmlyfe: Jay Grant
Welcome back to Filmlyfe, a series of journeys in which we swirl through time and space, and bathe in the blissful technicolor aesthetics that only an auteur can sling. The premise we’re rolling with? Men of the lens answer questions with visuals instead of words. It’s all motion. It’s a view into their souls. And today we peer into the world of Jay Grant, who’s forays into surfing have always been killer: Ryan Callinan’s Bad Bad Not Good, Creed McTaggart’s Abyss, and plenty more have been notches on a steadily maturing belt. He was even in the channel for Code Red! This man rolls in the same Newcastle clique as Craig Anderson and Ryan, so has unlimited access to two of Australia’s best, which he neither abuses nor allows to limit him. He’s a yes man, too – always a good trait – and will work for beer. But cold, hard cash works better, don’t it? … Jay’s worth every cent. See what he’s had been hiding in his bank vaults here…
