Stab US is a cloud at the moment.

While our Editor in Chief, Ashton Goggans, is on a cloud after the premiere of his brainchild, “The Electric Acid Surfboard Test” edited by and starring Dane Reynolds, showed to packed and silent (apart from timely hoots and hollers) crowd at Pacific City, Huntington Beach.

After all the hype and promo, EAST took it’s first hit last night.

Dane watched in the crowd with his lovely wife and kids, accompanied by Al Knost. People pulled up chairs, watched from the bar across the way and were genuinely engaged – something that doesn’t happen often at surf premieres in Huntington Beach come US Open season.

Vans had rented out the entire bar/club/the hippest spot in Surf City, The Bungalow HB, from 6-9. Here, guests including Nathan Fletcher, Nathan Florence, Dylan Graves, Joel Tudor, Tyler Warren and many more viewed with cocktails in hand.

It was a very similar experience to the outdoor scene, except indoors with complimentary drinks courtesy of Vans, Jose Cuervo and Corona and air conditioning courtesy of the Bung.

When the film ended, the crowd swarmed the stage eager to snag one of the few Electric Acid T-Shirts we brought to give away and to get their hands on the surfboards whose wax Dane had firmly planted his feet in the 25-minutes they’d just watched.

By the time 10 pm came around, the Bungalow was packed. The dance floor was loose. And we all proceeded to drink ourselves into the merry little hangovers that we’ve been trying to shake off on this warm Southern California Friday.

The next premiere of “The Electric Acid Surfboard Test” will be at the House of Vans in Brooklyn on Monday, August 13th. If you’re in the region we’ll be there to do it all over again.
