If Kelly Slater’s Foot Wasn’t Broken He’d Be Riding This
“The Gamma” brought to by, you guessed it, Slater Designs.
Never, under any circumstances, order a board to the dims of your favourite surfer. But, does that mean don’t order the model of your favourite surfer? Absolutely not! And who is your favourite surfer? If you didn’t hesitate to name the 11x world champ who currently can’t play hopscotch, then maybe, his utility surfboard is for you.
The Gamma is OK.
But don’t ride Kelly’s dims–we won’t even tell you what they are. Be yourself, ride to your specs. Order it shorter and wider to grovel or as your standard hi-performance board–it’s versatile. Now, let’s talk tech: So, the Gamma’s single concave, it’s got a slight vee behind the back fin and from what we’re told it’s fast and drivey, goes good from rail to rail and has a pulled in hip through the tail. The board comes in Helium–a new tech. It’s light and almost space-age, but with a Balsa and Paulownia wood spin on the rails. Also, this is the first board built by Slater Designs with the Springer, previously only used in Kelly, Stu Kennedy and Michel Bourez’s boards. It provides flex and livens up the sled. What does that all mean? Who cares? If it’s good enough for Kelly it’s probably too good for you. But, go ahead, be decadent!
