Summer’s tuning up in the Southern hemi (as of two days ago) and it’s time to start thinking about what kinda foam you’re gonna be throwing over a shorebreak and cleaving through swimmers on during the warmer months. Which is v good timing for Chilli to drop their new Rare Bird model, a Stab fave. This is from the more user-friendly end of their collection based around tropical winged creatures. Where the Birds Eye and Toucan models are for everyone, everywhere on everything, the Rare Bird is short, fat and fast to cut through chop. A little slice of tech: Single concave from the front foot back to a double concave and slight vee out through the back fin for easy transition. Wide point a little forward in this board allows a really nice rail line that creates drive. Combined with a medium rail and pulled in thumb tail. Drop four to five inches from your regular board and let the good times roll.
