An Artist Stab Digs: Benjamin JeanJean
And his latest work with RVCA is worth your time.
“I tried graffiti when I was young, but I guess I was so bad, getting arrested by cops every time I do it,” French artist Benjamin JeanJean says with a smirk. Getting into the skate scene young, then into drawing – which can easily naturally progress into a graffiti, one is bound to cross paths with the law in some form. Either way, growing up in the French south-west with its healthy blend of skate, art and surf culture, Benjamin’s style has matured overtime and acquired well-deserved respect world-wide. A few years back he tried his hand at the tattoo game, throwing another skill into the mix.
“I get a lot of inspiration from photographic, contemporary art and all kinds of movements, especially surrealistic.”
RVCA, recognising Benjamin’s unusual talent, signed him up to their Artist Network Program and promptly asked him to add some his flavour to their wares through an exclusive capsule. Stab picked a few favourites from the range for your viewing, the full set being shoppable right here.
