Listen: Jon Pyzel Has A New Podcast!
The two-time Stab In The Dark winner sits down with titan of industry Bob Hurley for the first episode of “Objects of Obsession.”
Podcasts are a dime a dozen, and surf pods often leave listeners feeling they were subjected to the inane and ignorant chatter of a couple clueless parking lot donkeys, instead of a high-minded perspective on subjects near and dear to their heart.
That ain’t the case here, with Mr Jon Pyzel—the man responsible for the loveliest of arrows in John John Florence’s quiver, and a two-time Stab In The Dark winner—and his new audio outlet, Objects of Obsession.
For the first episode of the series, Pyzel sat down with Bob Hurley, surf industry icon and longtime board cobbler, for a proper sit down to talk about just about anything you could imagine.
We don’t know what Pyz’s plan is for the pod, but if you like surfboards, learning about them and educating yourself, you should listen to it. It’s an organic endeavor that Jon decided to pick up, mostly so he had an excuse to sneak away from the planer for a few minutes and chat up his friends.
“I reached out to our Instagram followers for their questions because I wanted people to be able to find out more about all the different aspects of surfboard stuff and try to share my thoughts and ideas about the thing that makes us all so happy,” explained Jon.
“I didn’t just want to read questions and answer them, so I asked my friend Bob Hurley to jump in with me and share his thoughts as well,” he continued. “For future episodes I will talk with different guests who can add their opinions and ideas to the conversation.”
He’s looking have John John on sooner rather than later, as well as other team riders.
As far as dream guests go, he explained, “I feel lucky to know a lot of interesting people who are involved in the surfboard industry—surfboard, not just surf—and I think even some other shapers would be cool too.”
This could be the start of something beautiful for surfboards. Drop in and give Jon and Bob a listen. You can subscribe to Objects of Obsession on iTunes, here.
