When Julian Wilson Surfs Steaming Six-Foot Cloudbreak, We Put Down Our Crumpets And Watch

It’s easy to forget how good the Top-34 actually is. 

And within that Top-34, how good the top-10 is. 

But would it surprise you to learn that Julian Wilson is not in the top-10—currently, at least? In the 2019 Championship Tour, the 2018 runner-up finished 11th, behind 47-year-old Kelly Slater, despite his best efforts.

After watching this video of Julian at steaming Cloudbreak, we’re confused how such a clearly elite waverider could exist outside of the world’s top-10 surfers.

Is this fact a testament to today’s level, a smudge on Julian’s competitive savvy, or a condemnation of the Tour itself?
