What It Means To Be A Jamaican Surfer
Elishama “Shama” Beckford and Ivah Wilmot carry the torch for Jamaican surfing.
Now for something a little different: Jamaican surfing. In an ongoing series concerning the influence of Bob Marley, the sixth episode focuses on surfing in Jamaica.
Starting from Billy Wilmot’s love for surfing in the 70’s through to the skating and surf culture in Bull Bay today via Billy’s son Ivah and Shama Beckford.
It’s a 30-minute film and there isn’t a whole bunch of surfing in there. It is however refreshing to see the positive influence of surfing beyond the prototypical places.
Set aside some time and give this a watch.
It’s good.
