Honk for boards!

Y’ever long for the good old days?

Back before the internet, when human connection wasn’t just fingers dancing on glass screens, and we weren’t all tethered to tiny computers in our pockets? Before we started bowing to the gods of artificial enlightenment for every little decision? How is now working out for you?

There’s something earnest to be said here about the business model for Thrash Craft, something that requires the use of the words nostalgic, old school, maybe even romantic, if you really wanna lean in. But I’ll spare you that. Here it is, plain: Brad Flora disappears for months and shapes a large batch of boards. Somewhere between 400 and 800. Brad Flora packs them into a van and drives them across the United States. Brad Flora delivers some orders, then with whatever’s left, he hits every surf shop he can find, meets some friendly faces, maybe sells a couple more boards, maybe not.

“We just pack the van full of boards and hit every surf town in the States,” said Brad a while back. “We show up with the orders, and on top of that, the van’s packed with extra boards. We call it a pop-up sale when we drop them off. We’re about to hit the road again from November to January, hitting every surf town we can. If you want a board, talk to your local dealer.”

Now, with the new year and the DIY delivery road trip wrapped up, Brad’s put together a 30-minute mini doc on the whole thing — ROADKILL. Jack Kerouac would be proud. You should watch it. And maybe grab a Thrash Craft while you’re at it. Honk for boards.
