Since retiring from competition (did he ever, really?), Jeremy Flores and his fam have called Tahiti home.

We would never call this financial advice, but if 15 CT seasons, a Tahiti Pro win, a couple of Pipe Masters, and full-time residency on the island are anything to go by, Jeremy’s counsel might be some of the sagest you’ve read on here in a good minute.

Not one to mince his words, it’s good to hear Jeremy speak his mind and throw a chuckle into a camera.

“It looks like it’s gonna be firing for the first couple of days. I’m betting on it being on the first day.”

The Florescast calls for a solid 8-to-10 feet, with some chances of soiling among tour rookies who’ve never surfed waves this size in competition. “It’s gonna be interesting to see who really packs it and… gets their balls out!”

His advice to anyone trying to block out the jitters and/or fear sounds simple enough: “Switch the brain off. There’s not much strategy.”

Shall we summarize Jeremy’s picks? Courtesy of BetOnline.ag:

Men’s
– Jack Robinson: Comfiest in the vortex.
– Kauli Vaast: Has he ever not done well here?
– João Chianca: Especially if it’s big.
– Underdog: Al Cleland Jr for knowing the inside of hollow waves like few do.

Women’s
– Vahine Fierro: If Jeremy calls her The Queen of Teahupo’o, you call her The Queen of Teahupo’o.
– Molly Picklum: Loves it when it’s slabby.
– Caity Simmers: Because “Teahupo’o is for the fucking girls too!”
– Underpup: Kelia Gallina, the 12-year-old trials winner.
