Watch: Kyle Galtes Has Been Resurrected In Indo!
Talent has no expiration date.
Just the other day, Stab‘s Editor in Hat and I were discussing the lost talents of Florida surfing. We spoke of Tayler Brothers, Kris Wiernicki, Adam Wickwire and so forth — crazy talented kids who, for one reason or another, fell out of surfing’s limelight. The clip above, featuring Hawaii’s Kyle Galtes, reminds me that Florida is one of maaaany places where talent has vanished into the abyss (read: usually manual labor).
I remember Kyle from ages ago, at the NSSA Nationals, because he used to nail multiple air reverses per wave. It was his go-to move and, at the time, a well rewarded one. I don’t know if Kyle ever won a title (maybe airshow?), but I do remember thinking that he absolutely tore. And what do you know… he still does!
