Watch: Honolua Blomfield Writes Love Letters On The Nose
These legs are made for walking.
Honolua Blomfield is the ambassador women’s longboarding has needed for some time. The 21-year-old is stylish, charming, and has a competitive edge to boot.
Having established herself with multiple World Titles at such a young age, it would have been easy to focus this film purely on Honolua’s surfing prowess. Instead, Morgan Maassen portrays the Champ in a more artistic sense, bouncing around her North Shore home and sharing old family tales.
(Personal note: Honolua and I were in the 2012 NSSA Nationals Open Longboard semifinal, paddling toward each other on an A-Frame. I went right, she left, our noses crossed and she was given an interference. After the heat, a member of her large, male Hawaiian cohort made it clear that he did not appreciate my antics. Just want to say sorry Honolua! I got last in the final anyway. You’re the champ!)
