Watch: Creed McTaggart And Shaun Manners Ripping On Mat Manners Surfboards
Proof father Manners has shaping game (and Creed’s off HS!).
Stab loved Chun’s ‘Blastoid’.
It really blew apart our expectations of the boy. Before its release we’d kinda boxed him as the Rage clique’s younger bro. The potential was there, it just hadn’t yet been realised.
Then a few months back he dropped the 13 minute feature, his first ever, and exponentially multiplied his cred. Every ‘Blastoid’ Instagram teaser was littered with positive commentary, big names were reposting, praises were sung inside and outside of the industry, Shaun Manners basically became a household name overnight.
One thing Shaun revealed to Stab at the time was that every board he rode in ‘Blastoid’ was shaped by his father, Mat Manners.
Mat’s been shaping for 36 years in Margaret River. He’s core, a heart and soul craftsman and his son (and friends) look up to him with admiration.
Now in case you were wondering, this clip does signal the end of the Creed McTaggart x Haydenshapes alliance.
While Creedo always looked lively on high tech Futureflex machinery, his return to more traditional surfboard materials and outlines seems to be a more organic match. We’ve got an interview with Creed coming shortly, so stay tuned for more on this.
Something else to note is that the clip was edited by the two performers themselves. Both admitted to making the transition from the simpleton world of iMovie into Adobe Premiere for their DIY ode to the craft of daddy Manners.
While we would’ve preferred more cheesy transition presets, we’re backing the boy’s music selection. And the surfing, of course!
Take a look at Mat’s website, here.
