This Is What Happens When You Grow A Foot In One Year

Winter Vincent’s favorite surfer is Julian Wilson. 

The 14-year-old made this glaringly obvious on last year’s Stab Innocents trip, when on flat days and quiet evenings, he would ask us to play Jules’ profile film Scratching the Surface on repeat. 

Now 15, Winter recently released a short film called “CANCELLED”, in which he surfed exclusively at one of Julian’s favorite waves and scored it with a highly divisive tune from Scratching the Surface. 

The great irony—and I hope Winter takes this as a compliment—is that his surfing is much closer to John Florence x Kolohe Andino than it is J-Dub. 

It’s also worth noting that both of Winter’s parents are certified beanstalks, and the “perfect child” (as Craig Anderson lovingly referred to Winter) is hot on their trail. Over the past year, Winter has grown close to 12 inches—and fortunately, as we can see above, his surfing has not suffered. 

We can’t wait to see what happens when this kid gets a bit of meat on his bones.
