There Are Much Worse Places To Have Been Locked Down Than The Outer Banks
Next global quarantine, we’re heading here.
Oh to be 11 years old and stuck, indefinitely, in the land of sand-spitting tubes.
That’s the conundrum Will Deane faced during the first half of 2020, when Dare County, OBX was locked off from the rest of the world to prevent the spread of covid-19. Now, some might find the prospect of being quarantined on small island chain off the American mainland annoying, unpalatable, or even frightening, but Will saw it as an opportunity to surf the Outer Banks’ premier spots with only locals around.
And by the looks of this video, he milked the teat dry.
Never having seen Will before, we’re impressed by his tube riding and general style. But videos rarely tell the whole story, so we reached out to our favorite OBX vlogger, the pious and non-pandering Brett Barley, for a full scouting report.
“I honestly rarely ever surf with him,” Brett said, “but he definitely blows my mind on his ability for his age, and he charges pretty hard. He’s got killer style, and I love that he works on his rail game. Doesn’t just try to catch small waves and do airs on all of em. It’s rad to see someone like that coming up around here.”
