This weeks announcements:
STOP BEING MEAN TO JOHN JOHN FLORENCE.
Seriously guys! The pipe master can’t seem to catch a break or a solo wave, for that matter. This week’s third-degree burns, we’re delivered to the champ by a civilian boogie boarder. John seems to have released his pent up rage by splashing his brother Nathan while taking off on a bomb.
Helmets are officially cool again.
Yes, you read that correctly. Helmets are in, and Harry has a few thoughts regarding Koa Smith’s man bun.
Stab Staff Has Entered the Vans Digital Triple Crown
Mikey C and Ashton Goggans have proven that literally, ANYONE can enter the Triple Crown this year. Beanie guy vs. No shirt guy, a true battle for blood. If either of these rejects take home any prize money I will indeed be retiring from this job, burning all of my surfboards and having my eyelids permanently glued shut. That being said, I got my money on Mikey.
Vans Triple Crown has No Rules!
Not exactly. There is one rule. All clips must be submitted within 1 day of being filmed. Considering most surfers can upload 20-minute vlogs each week, this shouldn’t be an issue.
Leah Dawson on the other side of this lens this year.
Leah has been on the Vans Triple Crown Production team for the last 10 years. This year, she won’t be filming it. Instead, she’ll be competing in the digital contest. We caught up with Leah to check out what she’ll be riding and how she spends her time on the North Shore.
