The Icy, Untouched Breaks of Canada

Canada’s never been a surf destination. Blame the climate and the water temp and admire the lush backdrops of the unruly coastline. The small local surf pop has no qualms about their waves rolling on without drawn lines. The surf’s remote, there’s no car parks and the 45 minute session before work’s neither here nor there. To score north of the US you have to hunt… and be wary of bears. Here Pete Devries, Michael Darling, Logan Landry and Shannon Brow show the quality of waves where the Canucks call home.

“It was so fun to explore the east and west of Canada with the boys”, says Pete Devries. “The contrast of waves and temperatures made for two very different experiences. The east was full of long rippable waves, subzero temperatures and falling snow. The west was all about pouring rain, quick mixed up beach break and green rain forests. I’m happy to call the west coast home but I am definitely a little jealous of some of their setups.”
