The History Of Bruce Irons At Pipeline
The Thrill is Back.
“I knew to film him at a very young age,” says Herbie Fletcher. “Just like Kelly Slater, I sponsored him when he was ten. And John John, I sponsored him when he was eight. Here’s Bruce Irons, 16, and growing up to be the man at Pipeline.” This episode of The Thrill is Back features Bruce, starting with footage from ’92 and ending when the Volcom Stone still occupied the nose of his board. Bruce’s style in the barrel hasn’t changed since his adolescent days; he’s just thrown it in heavier and deeper. “It’s not about how you can stay in barrel,” he says. “It’s about how long you can stay behind the foam ball.”
