The Burleigh Single Fin is “The greatest surfing contest in the world”
Where competitors are forced to ride the “worst surfboards ever made”.
The Burleigh Single Fin Festival is an annual event held at Burleigh Heads that mandates competitors surf on pre-1985 single fins. It attracts everyone from former world champs to unknown local shredders.
But it’s not just a surfing competition—it’s a legitimate festival, with live music and a grassy, pine-lined point packed with spectators, creating scenes reminiscent of the Stubbies Classic in the late 1970s.
This is widely considered the best weekend of the year for surfers in the Burleigh Heads vicinity, but with the extremely low budget webcast, it’s been hard for anyone to truly experience the vibe via the internet. Until now.
Billabong & Swellian Productions present… The Burleigh Single Fin Festival 2021. Let your hosts Smivvy and Deadly introduce you to some of the heroes floating around the event site while spraying you with some spicy commentary on the way to this year’s final.
Even though it’s a month after the event finished, can we call this the best comp wrap ever?
