Star-Studded Crew Convenes At Remote Sand Point
Jamie O’Brien, Aritz Aranburu, and Greg Long paddle out to a bar…
If there is one thing of which we can be certain, it’s that surfers will always chase the best waves.
That’s why at any given time, if a particularly special swell looks destined to provide surf at some odd corner of the globe, you can expect to find at least a few pros and committed hobbyists drinking beers (but not too many) at a nearby bar the night before.
Do you think that Hawaiian Jamie O’Brien, Spanish Aritz Aranburu, and Californian Greg Long had a good hearty laugh when they discovered one another at a random sand point on a remote island off some unknown portion of (presumably) Africa?
They must have, right?
But that’s surfing. If the wave exists, someone will find it, and once someone finds, they’ll just have to tell their friends. This whisper-down-the-lane continues until Jamie, Aritz, and Greg all hear about it and bang, on the swell of the year, they’re all there.
It’s the science of addiction!
