Shane Sykes Charts Ravishing Lines In Puerto Rico
Hot take: Onshore winds are a good thing.
I’m not entirely sure what I find so intriguing about onshore conditions.
Maybe it’s the relatability or the fact that the monotonous routine of ‘up and down’ is off the table. The wonky sections force surfers to do chop hops, cutbacks, and creative stalls to find the sweet spot.
While it is enjoyable to watch Shane Sykes carve up and down faultless walls of J Bay, the variety from his recent Puerto Rico edit is a bit more exciting. The punchy offshore lumps leave us clueless as to what maneuver is coming next.
The key to performing in these conditions is situational awareness, and Shane seems to have plenty of it. He also has pretty nifty bag of tricks on the boog.
