Russ Bierke Is A Celtic Lord
Let’s watch his swordplay.
While the Google insists ‘Bierke’ (originally Bjerke) is a name of Norwegian origin, I feel our beloved Russell B. could have just as easily hailed from the Irish Isles.
He’s got the pale skin, the working-man’s attitude, and something tells me Russ wouldn’t be afraid to show a sheep who’s boss. In this clip, he redefines the locals’ perceptions of steep and deep.
I recently shared a session with Russ at a wave nowhere near as treacherous as the one playing above. While most of us waited by the boil to get an “easy” chip-in to a stand up tube, Russ sat wide, on the ledge, and took off on anything the pack missed or deemed too long. What I gathered was, on top of Russ not wanting to deal with a (fairly mellow, at this point) crowd, he probably found the chip-in too easy. Too boring. So he sat on the heaviest section of the wave and scratched in under the lip, for fun.
See if that ender wave doesn’t give you goosies.
