Pipeline Is Ready To Rise From Its Six-Month Siesta—Will It Rattle Our Bones Like Last Season?
Four minutes at the world’s best reform.
And don’t you just love the ebb and flow of the seasons?
Just when you think, “Man, if I surf another burgery south swell left I might actually take up foiling,” the North Pacific leaps out of hibernation and sends vibrant swell pulses inversely down the coastline.
Perhaps nowhere feels this more than Oahu’s North Shore, where the summers are flat flat and the winters are big big.
Like, a zero to sixty-foot swing.
While Oahu’s seen fun-sized surf for the past month-plus, there’s yet to be a truly solid swell in the ’19/’20 season. That ends early next week.
With an 11 ft. at 15 second northwest swell set to make landfall on Monday, the only question is: will Pipeline pump or wake groggy, with sand in its eyes?
You might recall that last year, locals were surprised when the first swell of the season was unusually clean at Pipe. Hopefully the same will ring true in 2019.
We’ve got our toes in the sand and are ready to film whatever may happen, so keep your eyes on this space for updates.
