Oscar Langburne Stars In “Dancing Barefoot”
The pint-sized stylist has something to say.
Oscar Langburne is 16 with the musical ear of someone twice his age who reveres the tastemakers of the decades before they came of age. We sat down with Oscar on the North Shore last December to discuss what makes him tick, and were quite impressed with the bands which inspired him. Stuff like The Specials, At The Drive-Inn, Joe Strummer and The Clash, Patti Smith – the artist that the title of this film is a nod to.
He, along with filmmaker James Kates, just released this 17-minute short film, Dancing Barefoot, starring the young stylist.
“Surfing is a super fun part of my life,” says Mr. Langburne on the film. “Don’t know how to explain it but it’s just such a fucking beautiful thing.
“From being inspired by Asher, Steph, Rob, Parko, Craig, Creed, Tom Curren and people who never look like they’re fighting the wave to also seeing the joy surfing gives most people… kids starting out, old people just floating around with a smile.
“There’s no airs in it cause if people wanna watch airs it’s not going to be me it’s going to be the best guys like Ryan, John, Chippa, Taj all those crazy good surfers or kids and younger guys like Noah, Eli, Shane and Cole. Maybe in another clip or maybe not.
“Oh, and that claim on one wave… sorry I got a little bit excited.”
Hit play.
