Mick Fanning Summer Fun
It’s a depressing reality when ‘fun’ consists of dodging longboards and goat-boats, weaving through an impact zone of flailing limbs and vacant, fearful expressions. That’s the Gold Coast’s Snapper Rocks for you. No wonder competitors in the Quiksilver Pro (which starts Feb 26th) are so thrilled by the idea of surfing the place with just one other guy. But hey, if you’re like Mick Fanning, you know how to make the most of even the most crowded lineups. ‘Specially when it’s your local break. Crowd aside, the waves in this clip definitely look fun. And summery. In the second clip, Mick’s surfing a (considerably) less-crowded Snapper, but this time on a Mark Richards-shaped super twin-fin. Seems to go ok for him – twinnies have a way of stripping a surfer’s skill right back down to fundamentals and Mick’s fundamentals sure are solid. TWIN FANG from Mick Fanning on Vimeo.
