Latin Americans Have an Undeniable Affinity for the Tube

Ecuador’s Carlos ‘Don Cabeza’ Goncalves doesn’t have a working phone. His technical ineptitude was such that he had to upload the above edit to a private link for me to watch. I was surprised at what I saw.

Hailing from a land of playful points (of which there are plenty in the clip above), the meat of this edit is the antithesis of what you might expect from an ‘underground Ecuadorian shredder’. Carlos had stacked some sizable left pits in Indo that gave me shades of Nate Behl and would surely raise his eyebrows as well (we are big Nate Behl fanboys over here and believe this compliment to be of the highest order). 

Don’t fret, there’s plenty of outright ripping too, but good on Carlos for implementing a fearless approach (1:30) in waves even phenomenal surfers would find themselves uncomfortable in.
