Julian Wilson’s first signature surfboard model: AIR17

Julian Wilson, until late last year, was a famously free agent for a long time when it came to surfboards. The majority of surfers ride one shaper exclusively. But Jules made no such commitment, picking and choosing the best – in fact, he was our test pilot for Stab In The Dark, in which he rode 10 blank boards made by the world’s best shapers, and rated them with no bias or preconceived notions. But then, Jules decided that JS was a shaper he could deal with exclusively. And now, the duo present to the world the fruits of their joint labour: AIR17. Jules rode a JS shape in the Lowers event, before they were partnered, and had this to say of it: “I felt like I could do whatever I wanted on this board.” The AIR17 is a further-refined version of that board. “This board, I could grab it out of the garage without checking the waves, and I’ll get away with having a good surf. This is what I was hoping to achieve with JS and I feel like we’ve found exactly that. For the waves I surf everyday, this thing is just magic.” Given Jules’ words, and his performance on the AIR17 in the clip above… you probably don’t need anymore testimonial. If this is of interest, dive over here.
