Julian Wilson’s An Ace On Dirtbikes, Demystifying The Tweed Coast With Margo And Son, And Two Adolescent Indigenous Prodigies
Danny Johnson takes the No Contest mic and runs!
With Americans still unwelcomed at Australian borders (as most international destinations under the current Covid travel restrictions), for this episode of No Contest we’re joined by Danny “Wet Lettuce” Johnson.
Just a few clicks from Stab’s Byron Bay office and Danny’s home, is the Tweed Coast, one of the most under-hyped and overlooked stretches of Australian sand, home to Josh Kerr, Stephanie Gilmore, etc., who are often mistakenly called “Gold Coast Surfers.”
With the Tweed Coast Pro kicking off the first of three World Surf League Countdown Series Events, Danny heads north to meet up with Julian Wilson to see his offseason crosstraining and impressive motocross skills.
Danny catches up with the original Australian freesurfer, Brendan “Margo” Margieson, and his (of course) wildly talented son, Micah. We’ll meet local rising star Molly Picklum, as well as the legendary Slabb family, who head up the local indigenous community leadership program, Juraki Surf Culture. We’ll meet young shaper Jaalan, and her brother, stylish little regularfoot and local adolescent standout, Lungi, as well as their legendary parents.
This is No Contest The Tweed Coast Pro.
