Judd Brown Is The Latest to Roll Off The East Coast Goofy Fly Boy Production Line
Another goofy who goes against the grain.
In the 70s, when Wales ruled the rugby world, folk singer Max Boyce penned the legend of the “Outside-Half Factory.”
Where they made outside-halfs on a production line: “And the wheels will go on turning, and trams will run on rails, To that factory ‘neath the mountain making outside halves for Wales.”
It seems to me that on the east coast of Australia, it’s not number 10s that we’re churning out, it’s goofy-footed aerialists. Think about it: Chippa, Dion (from Tassie, sure, but grew up and learned to fly on the Goldy), Benny Howard, Sean Mawson, Coby Perkovich, the list goes on. And now this fella, Judd Brown, from Port Macquarie. Whether it’s the southeasterly trades or the abundance of long rights that makes our screwfoots kick out against the soul archers when they finally locate a punchy left, we’ll never know. But we’re certainly not complaining.
