It’s fair to say that becoming a pro surfer would change your life (typically for the better). But there’s no guarantee that your actions would have any positive effect on the lives of others. That is where Jordy Smith steps in. Growing up in Durban, South Africa, he witnessed high levels of crime, violence, drug use and poverty, all in his front yard. Jordy is adamant that surfing kept him out of trouble as a child, so this clip is all about showing others that there is an alternative to life on the street, and that involves a large salty mass, and (in Jordy’s case), decimating unsuspecting lips. This clip has a powerful message but also contains some outrageously good surfing from the big guy.
