Jordy Smith, J-Bay and Cape Town
This footage of Jordy Smith at Jeffreys Bay wasn’t easy to get. To get from Cape Town to J-Bay, in South Africa, it’s 700km. Which, if you’re driving (and abiding by South Africa speed laws), equates to around seven hours. Despite the distance, when Jordy Smith spotted a swell headed for J-Bay, he knew it’d be worth the drive. Jordy’s fond of the place, and with good reason – he’s won the Billabong Pro, Jeffreys Bay twice consecutively there in the last two years. So, Jordy and buddies arrived at J-Bay at 12am. They rose and surfed from 7am til 1pm, then drove the 700km straight back to Cape Town. You can call that a snatch-and-grab mission. For more like this, go to Jordy’s site.
