Joan Duru Is Back From Injury (With A Vengeance)
And packing double-overhead pits.
When Joan was on the world tour we admired him for his backhand whacks. That however isn’t the only aspect of surfing in which he excels.
Late last year, just before the European leg, Joan Duru had a wipeout on some rocks in France where he broke his collarbone and scratched himself up. Despite managing to still compete, Joan was essentially out of the water and nowhere near his usual ability.
While France is still currently under lockdown, Joan managed to sneak in a few sessions beforehand.
By a few sessions, I mean surfing no waves under six-foot*. This ‘comeback clip’ was packed with double-overhead tubes, a few surprising makes, and a handful of proper beatings.
Joan Duru mightn’t be on the tour this year (if it even runs), but we’re happy to see him still mastering his non-competitive craft.
*Well, if you skip the first two minutes of beach-break frolicking. Although we don’t recommend doing that.
