Jack Freestone might just be your new favorite surfer

Jack Freestone is much more than just Alana Blanchard’s boyfriend. That much is clear after watching this release from Mikey Mallalieu. Nowadays we’re so used to seeing our favorite surfers one air at a time, with a carve sprinkled in if we’re lucky. But, mixing up the repertoire on a single wave is the mark of a truly talented surfer. And, that’s exactly what we get with Jacko. Here’s why it’s worth your time. 1: We like the aesthetic: Retro sprays in tropical waters. He’s not to first to throw it back with the flamed rails, but what an homage to Mr. Pottz! 2: His tweaked air-to-turn combos: Check 1:11 for proof. Tom Carey shoots with Jacko on occasion, and claims, “Jack’s one of those guys that just doesn’t fall.” Consistency! 3: One-footed laybacks: See 1:32, specifically. Washboard abs get the girls; feline feet the laybacks. 4: The signature Jack double-grab inversion: See 3:22. He does these things on command. 5: Rail game: Tight! Check the 54-second mark. 6: Formula to success: Two-and-a-half minutes. Whatta cliche! Nice of Jack to re-write the rules with this six-minutes plus release. 7: You’ll like the soundtrack: A Flock of Seagulls, “Modern Love is Automatic.” Such feels!
