Is There A Desire More Intense Than 4-ft Glassy Teahupo’o? 

Bruised lips need a chance to heal. Teahupo’o, on any given day, will rip you to shreds, but there’s another side to her — a gentler, more forgiving side that you can’t help but fall for. When she’s feeling generous, she’s the sweetest thing, and Jacob Turner happened to catch her in one of those rare, golden moods.

A few months ago, the 16-year-old from Kauai turned heads, mostly due to his bad habit of heaving himself into waves that most wouldn’t sniff without a ski — his fear of death somewhere far behind him. 

“Jacob Turner is the real deal,” Shane Dorian told us when the world took notice. “I haven’t seen anyone that young and that keen in at least a decade or more. He’s a super nice kid, really mellow and friendly in the water. But, when a big gnarly one comes, he’ll whip it if no one else wants it — and he’s very good technically.”
