Is Anybody Not Putting Filipe Toledo On Their Snapper Fantasy Team?
…because that would be unwise.
After winning Snapper in devastating form in 2015 and collecting a 3rd (due to a mid-heat injury) in 2016, Filipe lost to Zeke Lau in Round 2 of the Quikky Pro last year. It was a shocker beyond comprehension. Snapper, with its tight pockets and crumbly lips, seems a wave designed for the Brazilian super-talent. But on that day, the low-percentage outcome prevailed.
But if last year’s result has in any way deterred you from picking Filipe for your 2018 Fantasy squad, well, that’s a little silly. Despite John winning the title, Mick/Joel having homecourt advantage, and Filipe’s 25th last season, the Brazilian Jumping Bean is by far the favorite to win this year’s Snapper event. Especially if the waves, as they tend to be during the contest window, are in the chest-to-head-high range.
And if my expert insight isn’t enough to sway you, take a look at Fil’s recent sojourn to El Salvador. Chee-hooo!
